Scaffolding is the discipline where an unqualified worker is a safety liability rather than a quality problem, so it is the one where the supplier answer to a certification question matters most. Every scaffolder we deploy holds third-party certification appropriate to their level, and we will not substitute an uncertified worker to fill a headcount.
A scaffolding gang is a unit: a supervisor, a chargehand, certified erectors, an inspector to tag and register, and helpers to keep material moving. Supplied as a gang it produces; supplied as individuals it needs your own supervision to organise.
On plant shutdowns, access is usually the critical path. The scaffold has to be up before the mechanical crews can start and down before restart, which is why we mobilise scaffolding gangs ahead of the trades that depend on them.
