Sand blasting and protective coating

Surface preparation to Sa 2.5 and application of epoxy, polyurethane and other protective systems to your paint specification, with DFT records for the handover dossier.

NSTC supplies blasting and coating as a delivered scope: operators, blasting equipment and the coating application, on structural steel, pipework and equipment. Surface preparation runs to Sa 2.5 as standard, with the coating system taken from your paint specification.

This scope is priced against the paint specification rather than by area alone, because the number of coats, the dry film thickness and the system named in the specification move the cost far more than the square metres do. Sending the specification with the enquiry is what makes the quotation firm.

Dry film thickness readings are recorded as the work proceeds and issued with the handover documents, so the coating can be signed off without a return visit.

Common questions

Why do you need the paint specification to quote?
Because the system decides the price. The number of coats, the dry film thickness and the product named in the specification move the cost far more than the area does. Two jobs of the same square metres can differ by a wide margin on system alone, so a quotation given without the specification is a guess that gets corrected later.
Do you supply the blasting equipment?
Yes. Operators, blasting equipment and consumables come as part of the scope. If you would rather direct the operators yourself, painters and blasters are also available as supplied manpower.
Can you work on live plant?
Yes, with containment and housekeeping appropriate to the area and under the permit regime the operator runs. The method statement is submitted for approval before the crew mobilises.
